Adjusting the pump pressure of your commercial espresso machine
Most espresso machines will pump water through your coffee at 9 BAR of pressure (depending on your preference). When looking at your water pressure gauge, check the pump pressure during extraction. If the pump pressure is not at the desired level then you will have to adjust the pump pressure.
First, find the pump. Sometimes the pump will be external and easy to find. But most of the time the pump will be located inside the machine. Usually you can access the pump by removing the front panels.
This is how to locate the pump on a La Spaziale S40 machine for example:
Adjust the pressure
Start by loosening the black support nut:
Whilst extracting, screw into the pump to increase the pressure.
Once set, turn off the extraction and tighten the black support nut.
