Geisha is a varietal of coffee which is quite special. Named after the region in Ethiopia where this coffee tree is from, the coffee is extremely popular due to its unique flavours.
The Geisha tree requires special love and attention. Diego has a meticulous growing technique to produce a coffee that is truly special. There is a very limited production. The small amount of coffee, the extreme attention to detail and the hard work all adds to the cost of production but we hope you feel that it is worth the effort!
Diego Samuel was born in Bolivar, Cauca has dedicated the last 13 years of his life to growing coffee and to also gaining a deep understanding and knowledge on the processing and production of high-end specialty coffee that is almost unparalleled in the unique flavour and profiles produced.
As part of a tight knit family Diego works on their farm in Cauca with his wife, two daughters and two brothers. Together they are involved on the pursuit of continual learning and striving to achieve the next level with their processing. They built their own lab on the farm to firstly understand about cupping and roasting so they could then start to curate their own fermentation protocols for them to begin experimenting with. These experiments and novel approach to coffee have allowed to him to soar and exceed winning several awards from 2015 onwards.
As well as being an accomplished cupper Diego has also achieved the CQI level 2 processing course qualification which allowed him to get a base for seeing how cup profiles could be guided depending on micro-organisms, ph and temperature. With his partner Wilton Renso Benitez he is part of Indestec who are at the vanguard of coffee processing.
The Villa Esperanza - Paraiso farm in El Tambo, Cauca sits at 1700 masl and covers 27 ha of land and is planted with Castillo, Colombia, Caturra and Geisha. The farm focuses on technology and the critical processes that and intricate in producing coffee of this mark. From the selection to the meticulous drying which is done in a way to mitigate the changeable climatic conditions allowing them to replicate coffees of such high standards.
This Geisha lot has undergone a detailed and meticulous 9 step process leading to the exquisite results in the cup.
1. Picking of ripe coffee cherries (90%) and semi ripe coffee cherries (10%) Picking date:third week March 2020.
2. Cherry washed with sterilised water to decrease microbial contamination
3. First phase of fermentation in cherry for 60 hours in tanks with pressure relief valve (2 bar) at a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius.
4.Coffee is then de-pulped and floated
5. Second phase of fermentation is anaerobic for 36 hours at 18 degrees Celsius.
6. Thermal shock wash - this phase is though to transfix the secondary flavour development that had occurred in the fermentation
7. First:Washed in water at 35 degrees centigrade.
8. Second:Washed in water at 12 degrees centigrade.
9. Controlled drying for 29 hours, with air re-circulation at a temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 25%, until reaching a grain humidity between 10% and 11%.
This coffee is super easy to drink as it is balanced and well rounded.

This is genuine grade 1 roasted to order Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee. It is pricey but you must give it a go!
This coffee is from the Baron Estate which is owned by the Minott family of Mandeville, Jamaica. The farm is about 56 ha with 27 ha dedicated to growing coffee.
The climate and soil is really well suited for growing the finest coffee and the Minott family have been growing coffee for over 70 years.
The clouds offer natural 'shade' and the low temperature and humidity help with the slow maturation of the coffee beans.
The skilled pickers go back to each tree twenty times to ensure the cherries are harvested at the peak times.

A beautiful coffee from the famous coffee growing region of Cerrado Minas Gerais. Brazil is the largest producer of coffee and sets standards for the quality of growing, harvesting and processing of amazing coffee.
Brazilian coffee is usually a very balanced coffee and is therefore often used as a base for many blends. Our Brazilian coffee beans are roasted for a mild and easy drinking flavour profile. Excellent as a filter coffee so try this in a V60 or Aeropress.
This is a naturally processed coffee of the varieties Mundo Novo, Catuai and Bourbon, which delivers a smooth mild drink with notes of nuts.
Colombia is one of the finest coffee growing countries in the world and coffee beans from here have a fantastic reputation. Being the third largest grower of coffee, Colombians know what they are doing and have been doing so since 1790.
This supremo coffee from Colombia, which is of the Caturra, Typica and Bourbon varieties, is chocolatey and nutty and we source it from Medellin. A delicious mild coffee as a filter and sweet and slightly bright as an espresso.
This coffee is fully washed delivering clarity and a healthy brightness in the cup that can be enjoyed in large quantities anytime of the day.
Our coffee from El Salvador is from the Las Isabellas farm and is a mixture of Pacamara and Bourbon. Las Isabellas is located in the south face of "Cerron Grande" of Apaneca at the west region of El Salvador at an altitude of 1200 to 1450m and is part of the Blue Harvest project.
At Las Isabellas you can find 175 acres of natural forest, natural springs and waterfalls! Las Isabellas is a certified Rainforest Alliance farm. The owner of the farm is Jose Roberto Santamaria who is dedicated to managing the farm and the mill.
Sweet mild coffee with delicious flavours of plums and chocolate.
One of our favourite coffees here at Limini. This coffee highlights to us how delicious Ethiopian coffee is. It is wild, winey and yet full bodied. It is similar to our Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee but not as floral.
Our Limu is grown about 1600 masl in the Oromia region of south west Ethiopia and is a mix of coffees beans from just six farms of the Eastern African Heirloom varieties.

This coffee from Negele Gurbitu comes from the Yirgacheffe region which is a famous coffee growing region in Ethiopia.
Grown very high up around 1700 to 2000 meters, this coffee has been harvested between October and December and is fully washed. These coffee trees are of the fantastic Heirloom variety.
Expect really funky and floral flavours; think of Earl Grey tea and whisky.
Guatemala has been growing coffee since the 1850s and is one of the top producers in Central America. Coffees from Guatemala are simply beautiful and one of our favourite here at Limini.
Our Guatemalan coffee beans are from plantations in volcanic valleys surrounding Antigua. This coffee is surrounded by three volcanoes: Agua, Fuego and Acatenango. The plantations have rich volcanic soil and excellent growing conditions at an altitude of 1650 metres. Varieties are Caturra, Bourbon and Typica.
This coffee is chocolatey and sweet with a beautiful body. There are notes of blackberries in the aroma. Delicious.
Indonesia is one of the largest coffee producers in the world, usually in the top five.
Coffee growing was started during colonial times around 1696 as the region provided some excellent growing conditions. Coffee beans from Indonesia produce low acidity and high bodied profile.
This coffee is grown near Lake Toba which is the largest volcanic lake in the world. Processed using Giling Basah, this coffee has a huge body and a spicy aroma with hints of tobacco. The varieties are Catimor and Typica.
Rwanda might be small but the coffee that comes out of this African country can sometimes be nothing but absolutely divine. As Rwanda has no coastline it can be expensive to export the coffee. There are some 400,000 small-scale growers and all coffee is Arabica.
Our coffee, which is grown at 1,400 - 1,900 meters, is from the varieties Bourbon and Typica and is a fully washed mix of coffees from 40 washing stations and 35,000 farmers in Rwanda. The coffee is hulled, graded and hand sorted at the Rwanda Trading Company in Kigali. This is a fruity and well balanced sweet coffee with beautiful hints of cranberries. We roast our Rwanda coffee beans to a light to medium level.

This flavoured infusion is from Germany and brews a deep red cup with fruity flavours of red berries and sweet jam.

Our Decaf Breakfast leaf is a straight Ceylon Leaf tea that goes through the co2 method of decaffeination. This is the best method to use, as other methods involve using chemicals to strip it of the caffeine.

What espresso machines are compatible? - Coffee Pods are suitable for use with domestic drop through Nespresso® machines only, excluding professional machines, 'built in' models and the new Vertuo range. They aren't compatible with Keurig, Tassimo, Dolce Gusto, Lavazza or Nespresso® Professional or Vertuoline systems.
How do I dispose of used pods? - Simply dig them into your garden soil. Covered pods in damp conditions should decompose into fertiliser within a month or so. If you have no facility to bury them in your garden, place used pods into your food waste bin or your general waste bin. Either way, they’ll end up in landfill and decompose into fertiliser within a few weeks.
What grind? - It depends a little on your preference but slightly coarser than espresso is usually great. Select the POD icon when you order your coffee from us.
